Kasey Yu
Korean Specialist, Phoenix Law & Associates
Kasey was born and raised in Korea and later moved to Australia to pursue her legal studies. Before studying law, I completed a degree in English Language and Literature in Korea, which gave me a strong foundation in language, communication and cross-cultural understanding. I then completed my Juris Doctor at Griffith University with accelerated program. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in practical, client-focused areas of law, particularly where clients need clear guidance during stressful or unfamiliar situations.
Outside of work, Kacey enjoys reading, cooking, exploring new cafes and restaurants with people close to me. “I also enjoy exercising – I go to the gym, have 10 years of experience in yoga and Pilates – currently, I’m learning tennis and golf.”
” Being born and raised in Korea helps me understand not only the Korean language, but also the cultural expectations and emotional concerns that many Korean clients bring with them when they seek legal help in Australia.
For many Korean clients, the Australian legal system can feel unfamiliar and intimidating. I think my background allows me to explain legal issues in a way that is clear, culturally sensitive and practical. It also helps clients feel more comfortable asking questions and expressing concerns that may be difficult to explain in English.”
What I enjoy most about practising law is being able to guide clients through difficult situations and help them understand their options. Legal issues can be stressful, especially when clients are dealing with family, property, business or immigration-related matters. I enjoy breaking down complex legal problems into clear steps so clients feel more informed and supported.
What I enjoy about working with the Phoenix Law team is the collaborative and multicultural environment. The team works closely together, and there is a strong focus on practical solutions for clients. I also appreciate that Phoenix Law assists clients from diverse backgrounds, which makes the work meaningful and engaging.
